Another dip into interior design...

Over the summer I have been doing several projects in the art of film making, interior design, and of course fashion design. I have also been incredibly busy at my new job at Innovations, a textile design firm which specializes in high end wall coverings and upholstery fabrics. Being around an interior design environment has encouraged me to strengthen my interior design skills.

If there is one thing I don't like, it's plain, and that's exactly what my armoire was until I got my hands on it. It used to be this huge white block in my room which held my clothes. I decided to paint a classic british flag over the doors, but with my own personal twist of course by only using two instead of three colors. I eliminated the red so the piece would go with the color format of my bedroom, and to put a modern twist on the traditional union jack. I chose the union jack because I secretly wish I was british, and I love the linear design of it!

The paint that I used was from the same can of paint I used for my walls, royal blue. To keep the design clean, I used painters tape to outline the design. After that I simply painted over the armoire, and finally peeled the tape ( which was disasterous 3 times). For some reason the paint turned into a latex, so the tape ripped the design off. Luckily after three tries, it came out wonderful. With no budget, I was able to take a bland run of the mill white armoire which lacked style and sophistication, and turn it into a stylish pop art design sensation.
